Inspecting & Testing

Why Inspection & Testing Is important

All Electrical installations deteriorate with use and age, they should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use. Such safety checks are commonly referred to as “Periodic inspection testing”. Once completed you will receive an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).

A Periodic inspection will reveal any of your electrical circuits or equipment are over loaded, find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards, identify any defective electrical fixed wiring and highlight any lack of earth or bonding. Test are also carried out on wiring and fixed electrical equipment to check that they are safe. A Schedule of circuits is also provided, which is invaluable for a property. The periodic inspection test should be tested up to 10 years for owner occupied home, 5 years for a rented home, 5 for commercial and 3 for Industrial.

On new installations we also issue a minor works certificate for smaller jobs i.e. Adding things on to existing circuits. We issue an Electrical Installation Certificate for board changes or partial/complete rewires, or adding new circuits.

Reasons to have an Inspection:

  • Increase Safety
  • To Comply With Regulations
  • Landlord Certificates
  • EICR reports
  • To Find Any Faults & Prevent Possible Failures
